Jevan is bringing the bold, vibrant flavors of South Asia in a way that feels approachable, delicious, and easy to share. We want to introduce more people to the flavors we grew up loving and create connection, spread ideas and bring joy in every bite.
Jevan means “meal” in Marathi. But to Marathis, jevan means so much more.
In South Asian culture, a meal is never just a meal. It’s an open invitation. It’s a table that somehow always has room for one more person. It’s the friend who stops by for five minutes and ends up staying for dinner. It’s a guest who says they’re not hungry, only to be lovingly, and sometimes persistently, encouraged to eat.
Because food has always been about more than food. It’s about creating connection, community, and warmth. That’s what jevan means to us.
I grew up in a family where food was at the center of everything. From a young age, I had the privilege of watching generations of family cook delicious meals and I got to experience, firsthand, the magic that jevan could bring.
During jevan, there were always people who came over unannounced, whether it was the WIFI technician, the next door neighbor, or a random friend who just stopped by to drop something off. Mom would invite everyone to join for dinner. We would exchange ideas, share our days, and eat delicious food, leaving both our bodies and minds satisfied.
Mealtime shaped the way I see the world. I learned that food can bring together people who might otherwise never cross paths. A shared meal can turn strangers into friends. Some of the best conversations happen when everyone is gathered around a table, sharing ideas, passing plates and always reaching for one more bite.
I realized that what I loved most wasn't simply the food. it was everything the food made possible. Jevan was a way to connect.
I started Jevan to share that feeling with more people.

Because you shouldn't need a special occasion to gather. You shouldn't need to know every spice or understand every tradition to enjoy the food. You just need a table, something delicious to share, and someone to share it with.
My hope is simple: that Jevan brings people together the way it has done for centuries in South Asian society.
More meals. More conversations. More people around the table.
Its jevan time! Come have jevan with us. There’s always room for you.
